At the invitation of Atmospheric Sciences College, Professor Klaus Schäfer from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology gave an academic lecture entitled Air quality meteorology, chemistry in Classroom 1301 with the attendance of teachers and postgraduates from Atmospheric Sciences College.
Professor Klaus Schäfer analyzed the effects of air pollutants emission in Beijing and Augsburg on the atmosphere, and drew a conclusion on spatial distribution and diurnal variation of pollutants. Based on the research of air pollution source in Beijing, he arrived at the causes and rules of smog formation. Afterwards, he conducted the data simulation of the relationship between air quality and mineral dust in Beijing. After the lecture, Professor Klaus Schäfer had a heated discussion with teachers and students on the relevant air pollution issues.
The wonderful introduction brought a characteristic academic exchange experience to all the students and faculty present and helped the students to have a better understanding of the significance and research prospect of pollution meteorology.
Prof. Klaus Schäfer：
Prof. Klaus Schäfer, born on October 28th, 1950, worked at KIT / IMK-IFU at the Institute of Atmospheric Environment and Atmospheric Environment, Karlsruhe Polytechnic Institute, Germany. He received his Ph.D. degree from the German Academy of Sciences in 1987, and in 1988 he was Professor of Atmospheric Physics at the German Academy of Sciences. In 1988, he was a professor of Atmospheric Physics at the German Academy of Sciences. 1973-191 years as the German Academy of Sciences, Sun-Geophysical Research Center; 1992-2016 as KIT / IMK-IFU project leader and project leader.
